Also known as viscose, this semi-synthetic material requires certain chemicals to break the wood fibers into a weave-able yarn. It was created as a cheap alternative to pricey silk in the 19th century and is often used for Hawaiian style and camp collar shirts due to its thin fabric that drapes nicely over the wearer’s body.
